The ceremony is at Bristol Register Office in the heart of the city centre. Bristol Temple Meads station is a 15-minute walk or short taxi ride away. The reception at Pazzo and Whitmore Tap on Whiteladies Road is a 10-minute taxi from the ceremony.

Flights

There are two airports to fly into. Heraklion (HER) is the closer option at around 69km from Skaleta — roughly a 55-minute drive — and is Crete's main international airport with the widest choice of direct UK flights year-round. Chania (CHQ) is around 80km away and is a good alternative if you can find a better fare or more convenient route from your nearest airport. We recommend searching both when comparing options.

We recommend booking flights as soon as possible — May is popular in Crete and fares climb quickly. Search on Skyscanner or Google Flights to compare all options from your nearest airport.

Getting around

Renting a car is by far the best way to get around Crete. Roads are good, distances are manageable, and it gives you complete freedom to explore the island before or after the wedding. An automatic is recommended if you're not used to driving on hillier roads.

If you'd prefer not to drive, taxis and private transfers are readily available between Chania, Rethymno, Heraklion, and Skaleta. We will also be coordinating group transfers for the wedding day itself — see below.

Depending on where guests are staying, we plan to arrange transport to and from Arbora Villas for the ceremony and pool party. If you are staying in Rethymno, Heraklion, or another nearby town or village, please let us know in your RSVP and we will do our best to coordinate travel. Full details will follow once we have a clearer picture of guest numbers and locations.

May is shoulder season in Crete — warm, uncrowded, and beautiful. We recommend booking accommodation early as it's a popular time for weddings in the area.

Questions & answers
What should I wear?
Smart casual is the dress code — think summer wedding rather than beach holiday. Linen suits, midi dresses, and light layers all work beautifully in the Cretan sunshine. Please avoid white and ivory out of respect for the bride.
What about shoes?
The ceremony and celebrations are held at Arbora Villas in an outdoor setting. We recommend block heels, wedges, dressy flats, and smart sandals — all far more comfortable in May heat and well-suited to the grass, stone, and terrace areas. That said, if stilettos are your thing, don't worry — we will have heel stoppers on the day so you can still look stunning without sinking into the ground.
What is the RSVP deadline?
Please send your RSVP by 1st January 2027. This helps us plan transport, catering, and seating. If you have any difficulties, please get in touch via WhatsApp.
Are children invited?
We love your little ones, but the Crete celebration is an adults-only occasion. We hope this gives everyone the chance to relax, dance, and enjoy a rare weekend away. We appreciate your understanding.
What will the weather be like?
May in Crete is genuinely lovely — warm and sunny with temperatures typically between 20–26°C, low humidity, and long evenings. It is one of the best times to visit the island before the peak summer heat arrives. Evenings can be slightly cooler so a light layer for later in the night is a good idea.
Is the ceremony outdoors?
Yes — the ceremony and reception at Arbora Villas are outdoors. In the unlikely event of a significant change in weather forecast, we will arrange a marquee to ensure everyone stays comfortable. We will keep guests informed of any updates closer to the date.
Can I take photos during the ceremony?
We kindly ask that all phones and cameras are put away during the ceremony itself. We want everyone to be fully present in the moment — and our photographer will capture everything beautifully. You are of course very welcome to take photos before and after, and throughout the rest of the celebration.
